TNHTA is Tennessee’s unified, statewide champion for the hospitality and tourism industry. Representing restaurants, hotels, attractions, and tourism operators across the state, the association works to strengthen one of Tennessee’s most important economic sectors.
Advocacy is at the heart of TNHTA’s mission. The association represents the industry before state and local policymakers and leads year‑round engagement on issues affecting dining, lodging, tourism development, workforce needs, and the broader business environment. Through efforts such as Day on the Hill, TNHTA brings industry leaders and lawmakers together to address real-world challenges. This work has delivered meaningful results, including establishing Tennessee’s first statutory definition of “tourism,” protecting restaurants from harmful regulations during the COVID‑19 pandemic, and advancing legislation to ensure hotel occupancy taxes remain fair and transparent.
Education and workforce development are also core priorities. TNHTA provides training, certifications, and career-building programs that strengthen the state’s hospitality workforce. The TN ProStart program connects high school students with industry mentors, hosts statewide culinary and management competitions, and prepares students for successful careers in hospitality.
TNHTA supports collaboration across the industry through events that bring professionals together for learning, networking, and recognition. The annual Governor’s Conference on Hospitality & Tourism provides statewide education and industry insights, while the Stars of the Industry Awards highlight exceptional employees and teams who exemplify hospitality excellence.
The association also champions tourism as a key driver of economic growth by supporting initiatives that enhance the visitor experience and strengthen Tennessee’s position as a top travel destination.
Headquartered in Nashville, TNHTA serves as a trusted partner for hospitality and tourism professionals statewide. Through its commitment to advocacy, workforce development, and industry collaboration, the association strengthens the business environment and supports the long-term success of Tennessee’s hospitality economy.
